Laura Marchese, MS, RD, LD & Owner - Her Story:

Long before I became a Registered Dietitian, I was what you might call a hardcore 'Nutrition Nerd'. I would literally spend hours researching the scientific highlights or proposed benefits of whatever new foods were trending in the nutrition world. Early in life, I'd also had my fair share of health challenges, amplifying my respect for the synergistic power of fueling the body with the nutrition it needs to not just survive - but thrive. Eating healthy was my passion, but it took a few years before I finally realized I could make it my job too. I had been on another career path but kept feeling like there was more out there for me - and more ways to make a real impact and lasting difference in people's lives.

With a prior bachelors and masters already under my belt, I made the bold decision to go back to school again to finally chase my Registered Dietitian dreams. Fast forward several years and I couldn't be happier about the decision I made. I feel like I am living proof that if you love what you do, you'll never work a day in your life.

I'm so proud to be a Registered Dietitian and clinical nutritionist who is able to offer my clients the security of knowing that my guidance and recommendations will always be based on scientific evidence - and never hype. Registered Dietitians like myself are extensively educated in medical and nutrition sciences and specifically trained to treat a wide variety of diseases and health concerns from a nutritional perspective. Now I can finally put that nutrition-nerdiness to good use - and help guide you toward reaching your goals.

I opened Nourishing Nutrition Consulting in 2016 to provide patients with access to scientifically-sound nutrition recommendations and simple strategies to better nourish themselves and their families. Whether you work with me or another experienced RD on my team, our goal is to translate the complex science of food and nutrition into more 'digestible' information and insight that empowers you to make better choices.

Tori Simmons, MS, RD, LD - Her Story:

My own history with a chronic disease is what led me to become a registered dietitian. I saw the power of evidenced-based Medical Nutrition Therapy firsthand and wanted to be able to share that information with others. I also have a love for food and cooking and wholeheartedly believe that nutritious foods should taste good.

I earned my bachelor’s degree in Nutrition and Dietetics from the University of Georgia before completing a master’s degree in Nutrition and Dietetics, as well as my internship and a capstone in Sports Nutrition, from Georgia State University. My extensive nutrition training allows me to work with patients with a wide variety of health concerns, but I have special passion for sports nutrition, gastrointestinal and renal disorders, sustainable weight loss, and disordered eating.

Working in private practice has always been the ultimate goal for me as a practitioner because I enjoy having ample time to work with my patients and watch them succeed over time. The fact that I get to do this every day makes working with you something I genuinely look forward to!

Overall, I believe in looking at nutrition from an individualized, sustainable, and holistic perspective to fit each patient’s goals. In a world where you have unlimited access to information, I hope to provide clarity on what is rooted in fact, always in a way that's easy to digest. With this, I hope to empower you on your health journey and help you reach your nutrition goals!

Michelle Maxwell, MS, RD, LD, CDCES - Her Story:

I often joke that I became a Registered Dietitian because I love food SO much that I figured out how to be paid to talk about it all day. While I’m very serious about my love for food, I ended up in this field more so because of my love for people. Both of my parents worked in the medical field, so I grew up with dreams to be a pediatrician. Halfway through college, I stumbled into a nutrition class that changed my life. I know the ultimate importance of food in health, but I also realize that food is sometimes the last thing we think about with our health. While I believe in the effectiveness of medicine, I still love to be able to help people take a little bit less if I can. My goal is to help my patients continue to love food, but in a way that heals them.

I have been practicing for 10 years and I can honestly say that I love what I do. I started as a public health provider, and while I enjoyed that, I always had a strong interest in learning more about diabetes and helping people on a more personalized, one-on-one basis. So, I moved to Georgia from Florida, switched to working as a clinical provider and also earned my Certified Diabetes Educator and Specialist certification. Outside of working with my patients to improve their diet and overall health, I love music, food and time with friends and family, especially when I can combine them.

I'm so grateful to be a Registered Dietitian who can empower people to make better choices with their food so they can improve their wellness and enrich their lives. I hope to be able to meet you and be part of your health journey!
